Who Are REALINED?
OUR LEARNERS ARE SUPPORTED BY A SPECIALIST TEAM.
COURSE LEAD
Designated Safeguarding Lead
Provides overall oversight of all safeguarding matters, compliance and local authority engagement.
Ensures all learners are supported within a safe, structured environment and that any concerns are identified, managed and escalated appropriately.
CREATIVE TEACHER
Leads day-to-day delivery, combining creative learning with consistent pastoral support.
Builds trusted relationships with learners while monitoring wellbeing, engagement and behaviour within sessions.
Embeds Functional Skills into class and project work consistently in real life scenarios.
TRAUMA-INFORMED LEARNING MENTOR
Provide consistent, hands-on support to learners throughout the programme.
Use trauma-informed approaches to manage behaviour, build emotional regulation, and reinforce positive routines and engagement.

Why REALINED Exists
THE CHALLENGE
Many young people aged 16–25 with NEET status did not thrive in traditional education settings. Despite existing provisions, a consistent group of learners continue to disengage.
Struggling with attendance, confidence and direction, these young people are often not yet ready for employment or further education, leaving them stuck between systems with limited progression.
THE GAP
Current provision often prioritises outcomes without fully addressing readiness. There remains a disconnect between:

Too often, young people are expected to adapt to systems that are not designed for them.

The REALINED AP Programme is the core course we deliver to our learners.
A structured pathway supporting young people aged 16–25 from disengagement to progression.
Through a balance of creative practice, functional skills, personal development and real-world experiences, learners are supported to rebuild confidence, develop core skills and progress towards education, employment, training and independent living.

1The Pathway
Entry (Assessment & Onboarding)
Initial referral, Vocational Profile, EHCP outcome mapping, baseline assessments and personal goal setting.
Stabilise (Engagement & Routine)
Establishing attendance and reducing behaviour incidents through a small cohort, safe environment and strong mentor relationships.
Develop (Skills & Qualifications)
Building a professional creative portfolio, achieving skills through classwork and AQA Units progressing the Arts Award Gold.
Launch (Transition & Destinations)
Portfolio preparation, interview practice and career guidance transitioning into year 2, further education, employment or training.
Year 2 offers a progression route for learners ready to take the next step — moving from participant to leader within the programme.

A Typical Week
EVERY STUDENT HAS AN INDIVIDUAL LEARNING PLAN BUT THIS IS WHAT A STRUCTURED WEEK AT REALINED AP MIGHT LOOK LIKE.
CURRICULUM WORKSHOPS

Workshops designed around the REALINED AP framework, taking learners through the Journey.
Sessions include guided activities, group discussions and practical strategies that help learners understand themselves, each other and society better.
CREATIVE PROJECT WORK
GOLD ARTS AWARD
Learners explore a range of creative practice modules, building skills through hands-on project work.
This includes class lessons, AQA Unit Awards, and working towards the Gold Arts Award, with a strong focus on preparing work for outcomes.
MATHS & ENGLISH
FUNCTIONAL SKILLS
Focused teaching and support towards Maths and English Functional Skills GCSE.
Learning is linked directly to project work, using themes and contexts from creative projects and workshop sessions to make core skills more relevant.
ENTERPRISE & INDUSTRY
REAL-WORLD APPLICATION
Learners are introduced to enterprise through visits to businesses, live group projects and real-world experiences.
This includes practical activities designed to embed learning in real-life contexts and build independence.

EACH DAY FOLLOWS A FAMILIAR STRUCTURE TO HELP LEARNERS FEEL SETTLED, SUPPORTED, AND READY TO ENGAGE.
ARRIVAL & CHECK-IN
Arrive, settle in and connect. Wellbeing check-in and ready for the day.
MORNING SESSION 1
Main learning session of the day. Workshops, projects and skills development.
BREAK
Short break to relax, refuel and reset. An opportunity to connect with staff and peers.
SESSION 2
Practical skill building, creating and collaborating. Functional skills embedded within activities.
LUNCH
Time to eat, relax and rehydrate. Stretch break and chance to leave the classroom.
AFTERNOON SESSION
Practical learning, project development, creativity, real-world experiences and next day planning.
REFLECTION
Reflect on progress, celebrate achievements and access/set goals for next day.
END OF DAY
Check-out, arrange travel and say goodbye. Staff debrief and prepare for tomorrow.

Delivered throughout the REALINED AP programme, learners build a portfolio of work through creative projects, research, leadership opportunities and public outcomes such as exhibitions, screenings and enterprise activities.
The Gold Arts Award is a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification supporting learners to develop creative practice, leadership and independent project skills.
